Reviews for Dean's Beans

A ready-to-drink black coffee, tested cold. Deep-toned, balanced. Date, salted caramel, walnut, orange zest, gently smoky cedar. Round, smooth acidity; crisp, fluffy mouthfeel. Richly bittersweet finish driven by walnut and orange zest notes. Slightly smoky cedar notes play nicely with milk, alongside date, salted caramel and walnut.
Spice-toned, balanced. Nutmeg, lemon balm, jasmine, fig, fir in aroma and cup. Brisk acidity; crisply velvety mouthfeel. Wood-framed, lemony finish with undertones of fig.
Evaluated as a regular brewed coffee rather than as espresso. In the aroma roundly and deeply roasty: cedar, cardamom, flowers. In the cup crisply pungent, smooth, simple, with a roast-influenced fruit that with imagination reads as semi-sweet chocolate. Cleanly rich finish.
This very dark-roasted coffee reveals almost nothing about the potentially interesting green coffee itself except its ability to stand up to a severe degree of roast and still taste quite agreeable. The profile is roasty and charred, but pleasantly free of bitterness and haloed by sweetness.
